If you have a few minutes and Quicktime, please listen my latest podcast. Originally written in October 2006, this story chronicles the ever-evolving relationship with my sister, Christina.
(PS. Excuse the photographic glitch at the end. I'm new to Garage Band and couldn't figure out out how to make it right.)

Podcast: Served up with a side of grits
Exactly how bad was it to leave a post about dog farts as the leading headline for three days? A busy weekend kept me from blogging, but today I decided to offer you a podcast instead of a post. In a recent comment, Dan-E told me this story was one of his favorites from my Martinis archive, and I happen to like it as well. It's been a while since I've created a podcast, and I thought this might make a nice feature. I hope you enjoy it, too.

Is it Friday already?
No. But since I'll be busy searching for a new home in Germany later this week, I've decided to post my Friday podcast early. These podcasts take a lot of work, people! But in this case (even though I'm still congested and my voice is not up to par), it was a labor of love. This is one of my favorite memories of all time. It's about experiencing a world without boundaries (well sort of) and the consequences that result from resisiting the pressure to conform to the expectations around you.
If you have 5 minutes to spare and Quicktime, click HERE.
I'll catch you later this week from Mannheim, Germany. Wish me luck in finding a new humble abode to call home.

New Friday Podcast
Better late than never? Even though I am still battling a nasty head cold, I decided to live up to my commitment and provide a Friday podcast. This was original written for Martinis For One, back in the day when I was a single gal with all its ups and downs. The podcast talks about the downs, more specifically, the aftermath of a break-up.

D-day
I've got my bag packed. Once those contractions start, I'll head to the hospital.
That's right. I've been keeping a secret from you.
No! Not THAT, sillies.
My dearest friends Shannon and Scott have asked me to be in the delivery room for the birth of their first child. I cannot even begin to tell you how honored I am by their request--also a little nervous, but honored just the same.
People ask me if I think about what the experience will be like. I don't think about it. Although I've never been pregnant, I do know every birth is different. Why should I dwell on it? At this moment, I only think about two things--being a witness to a new life entering this world and giving my sweet Shannon what she needs during that time. I don't have a clue what that is, but I guess I'll find out on the big day...
Which, by the way, should be any day now. We are well into week 39. In fact, I'm practicing my breathing exercises as I type this post.

It's Friday and my second attempt at podcasting has been posted. Check here if you have 3 or 4 minutes to spare. You'll need Quicktime to hear it.
